An exquisitely fine embroidery in 15ct gold! This poetic antique Georgian Cannetille pendant, painstakingly created entirely by hand, consists of coiled, twisted and granulated 15ct gold wire arranged in an oval floralesque motif around a pale 'Rose de France' Amethyst and teeny Turquoise glass cabochons. 

Fashionable in the 1820's/30's and inspired by the romantically historic aesthetic which was sweeping Europe at the time, jewellers at the time strove to revive this labour intensive artform, creating wonderfully light and lyrical jewellery such as this piece. As they are so delicately fashioned not so many pieces survive, and so this is an item to treasure, as it has been for two centuries!

For scale, this piece measures an inch from the bale down and so is a masterpiece in petite perfection. We have paired it with an old 9ct gold belcher link chain measuring 16 inches.
